How to Repair a Sewer Line

If your sewage line is giving you problems, there are two main ways to fix it. The first way is traditional sewer line repair. This involves digging a trench to access and repair the sewer line. First, a backhoe is used to dig a trench around the sewage line. After the trench has been dug, we will locate the source of the problem and decide whether it can be repaired or if it must be replaced. If your sewer line problems are severe, traditional sewer line repair is most likely your best option.

The other way to fix a broken sewer line is trenchless sewer repair. This involves no digging and is less costly, time-consuming, and intrusive than traditional sewer line repair. Instead of digging a trench to find the source of the problem, our Boston sewer repair team uses a camera to explore your pipes and locate the issue. If there’s a blockage, then hydro jetting can be used to fix the problem. Hydro jetting involves using high pressure jets to clear out the blockage.

If there’s a ruptured pipe, pipe lining can be used to fix it. Pipe lining involves applying epoxy to the ruptured portion of the pipe. Once the epoxy hardens, the rupture should be repaired. If pipe lining doesn’t work, the pipe may need to be replaced. This can be accomplished with pipe bursting. Pipe bursting involves inserting a cone-shaped device into the pipe. The device will destroy the damaged pipe and replace it with a new one.

"I had a very old toilet that was slowly leaking. I could not see the leak, but could hear it. Because our water bill was unusually high, I called Winter Home Services and got a timely appointment. John Mack came and found the leak in the tank, but as he worked on the toilet, more of the toilet features failed during the repair. Eventually, it became apparent that the whole toilet and the discharge funnel had to be replaced. This was accomplished in a very timely way. I give John Mack 5 stars, but Winter Home Services only 4 stars as the invoice was not accurate and $70 for just coming out was not applied to the bill as I think it should if the work goes forward. The final bill was $3,288 which seems high, but I have never replaced a toilet, and John Mack's keeping up with the job as each problem with the toilet was revealed was great. I can imagine circumstances where there would have been awful delays as each new problem surfaced. John Mack, I thank you. Robert Bill"
