Instituted on December 27 1757 by Prince Philipp Ernst I. A rare decoration, in silver an eight point star with clusters of five faceted rays, the central applique in gold, a superimposed Maltese cross with lightly pebbled arms, with flames between each arm, the central medallion presenting the inscription IN SENIO (In Old Age) on a blue enamelled field, surrounded by a textured gold ring, the reverse of the star
