Germany, Weimar Republic. An Upper Silesia Self-Defence Force Sleeve Insignia Archive inscribed with the dates "1914"(Abzeichen des Selbstschutzes Oberschlesien). Instituted May 1921 by Generalleutnant Karl Hoefer. (1921 issue). Constructed of gilded and silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a shield with a pebbled border, bearing a central raised hydra pierced by a sword, perforated with four holes for sew on attachment, the reverse has been modified with a vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 44 mm (w) x 54 mm (h), in overall very fine condition.
