The surfaces are thoroughly burned with a torch, removing the cellulose and exaggerating the grain; a wire brushing enhances the effect. A colored wax further highlights the surface. The inherent inexactness of flame on wood creates a rich, variable surface of complex color, texture and form. Available in bold black and white or more subtle tan and black.
